Second Suspect in Custody After Officer Critically Injured in Annapolis Shooting

A second suspect is in custody after an Anne Arundel County police officer was shot outside an Annapolis convenience store early Friday morning.

Danielle Nicole Blake, 29, of Severn, Maryland, is charged with conspiracy to commit the following: attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and handgun use in commission of a violent crime.

The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. Friday. The officer, Cpl. Larry Adams, had been patrolling the area when he stopped at a 7-Eleven store in the 700 block of College Parkway, and someone inside the store told him that a man standing outside seemed suspicious.

T.J. Smith, a spokesman for Anne Arundel County Police, said the officer called for backup and went to confront the suspicious person.

Following a struggle and brief pursuit, Adams was shot in the upper torso. Smith said the gunman ran from the area on foot.

Adams was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he had several surgeries Friday. He remains in critical condition.

Colvin Lamar White, 30, of Annapolis, previously was arrested without incident in the shooting of the officer, police said.

They said this is the first officer to be shot in the line of duty since July 2008.
