Second Death in Leesburg Bypass Car Crash

Police say 48-year-old Shannon C. Donley succumbed to his injuries from an accident earlier this week

A second man has died from injuries he sustained in a car accident on the Leesburg Bypass on Wednesday afternoon.

Shannon C. Donley, 48, was driving eastbound on the Leesburg Bypass when a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu crossed from the opposing lanes and struck his car.

Investigators say the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Philip Green Jr., crossed the grassy median and struck Donley's 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Green's car flipped over and he died at the scene.

Donley was severely injured in the crash and was flown to an area hospital in critical condition. On Thursday, family members notified Leesburg police that he had died.
