Elementary schools in the North Laurel area were locked down while Howard County police searched for a suspicious person Thursday afternoon.
Someone called police about a person who may have a weapon in the Covered Wagon area.
Police have not confirmed the report. Police did not find a suspicious subject nor receive any more reports, and no shots were fired.
Forest Ridge and Laurel Hills elementary schools were locked down as a precaution. The lockdown at Forest Ridge was lifted before 4:30 p.m. Laurel Hills was on lockdown until about 5:10 p.m.
Buses are taking Laurel Hills students home after the lockdown, police said.
