School Resource Officer Subdues Teen With Taser

A school resource officer subdued a 16-year-old girl with a Taser after she began punching her Thursday morning, according to Montgomery County police.

About 11:30 a.m. the freshman was confronted outside the main building of Montgomery Blair High School. When the officer told her to go inside the building and back to class, she became upset and began hitting the officer, News4’s Pat Collins reported.

The officer used the Taser, and the student was taken to a hospital to have the Taser dart removed, Collins reported.

"She violated the law," said Paul Starks, of Montgomery County police. "She assaulted a police officer and the police officer responded with what she believed was appropriate force."

Both the officer and student are fine, police said.

The girl was charged with disruption of school and second-degree assault.
