Drivers who ignore school bus stop signs in parts of Maryland could soon be facing big fines.

This month, St. Mary's County is set to join a growing number of counties that use cameras to catch school bus stop violators, according to Southern Maryland Newspapers Online.

Those who illegally pass school buses face civil citations of $125.

Only a few buses will have the cameras to start.

Montgomery, Frederick and Washington counties have similar camera programs.
