Woman, 27, Found Slain in Hyattsville

A 27-year-old woman was slain Tuesday night in Hyattsville, and her killer or killers are still on the loose, police say.

The victim, Salina Rivera, was found dead after City of Hyattsville police officers were called about 7:55 p.m. Tuesday for the report of a shooting at 6210 Belcrest Road.

Officers found Rivera in a walkway. She had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a robbery during an illegal drug transaction, Prince George's County Police said.

U Street Music Hall said on Facebook that Rivera, also known as "DJ Salamander," was scheduled to make her debut at the venue on Thursday night. The music hall said that proceeds from the Thursday night show would be donated to her family.
