Robbery Suspect Identified By Lumps He Took From Victim's Cane

A 75-year-old woman fought back with her cane during a robbery Friday morning, and police were able to identify the suspect with the help of wounds he suffered, sources told News4.

About 11 a.m. in front of the Turkish Embassy near 23rd and Q streets in northwest D.C., a man ran across the street to the woman and her 81-year-old husband and demanded money. The husband said he didn’t have any so the suspect reached into the man's back pocket and took his wallet.

The two men got into a scuffle, and the suspect pushed the husband to the ground. The woman went to her husband’s defense, striking him with her cane.

The suspect got away, but about 3 p.m., police took Milton Hood, 50, into custody.
