Road Race Suspected in Fatal Colesville Crash

31-year-old Wheaton woman dies

Police believe two vehicles involved in a road race down Randolph Road in Colesville led to a fatal accident on Wednesday.

Just before 4 p.m., Montgomery County police responded to the 800 block of Randolph Road at Timberview Court, where a 2006 Nissan Altima had flipped over.

The driver of the Nissan, 31-year-old Nelvis Suyapa Garcia of Wheaton, was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police believe two other cars, a green Mini Cooper and a silver vehicle, were racing eachother eastbound on Randolph Road from Kemp Mill Road shortly before the accident.  Investigators said the silver vehicle changed lanes at the same time as Nissan, and contact between the two vehicles may have been made.

Garcia's Nissan then went through another lane of traffic and onto the sidewalk, where it rolled over.

According to officers, neither the Mini Cooper or the silver vehicle remained on the scene following the crash.  The investigation continues.
