Residents, Firefighters Hospitalized in Montgomery Co. Fire

Five people, including two firefighters, went to the hospital with minor injuries following a three-alarm fire in Gaithersburg, Md.

According to officials, crews arrived to the 19300 block of Club House Road just before 8 p.m.

Everyone got out safely, but an elderly woman was seen being helped out of a third-floor window and down a ladder by firefighters.

"I heard her yelling and saying she couldn't breathe," one resident told News4. "They had to get two ladders to get up three levels."

Residents in 12 units of the Thomas Choice Apartments -- about 40 people -- were displaced due to the fire, including Nilda Abraham.

"I feel so sad, so bad... for other people... this is terrible," Abraham said.

The fire was an accident, investigators said, but cause of the fire is still under investigation.
