Man Fatally Shoots Former Romantic Partner Breaking Into His Md. Home: PD

A homeowner shot and killed his former romantic partner, who is accused of breaking into the house in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, according to Prince George’s County Police.

The alleged intruder, 30-year-old Craig Corban Jr., of Baltimore, was shot just before 3 a.m. on Blue Sage Lane in the gated Meadow Gate Estates community. He was found dead on the property.

Someone who was inside the home told News4 he heard the gunshot and then heard the intruder yell, “You shot me,” and the homeowner reply, “I didn’t mean to. Stop breaking into my house.”

According to court documents, in June 2013 Corban and the homeowner were inisde the home when they argued over a cellphone. Corban grabbed the homeowner by the neck and while holding a knife said, "This is it! This is the end of the road." The victim's face and neck were scratched, and marijuana was found on Corban, according to court documents. Corban was charged in the incident.

The homeowner, who called 911, is not in police custody. There’s no word on whether he’ll face charges.
