Virginia Woman Dead of Apparent Overdose

A 21-year-old woman died in Virginia early Thursday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was taken to the Inova Emergency Room-Ashburn HealthPlex in Ashburn, Virginia, about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff's office. She was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Two men dropped the woman off at the emergency room, immediately left, but were identified and found, according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman who died was identified as Julia E. Crabbe, of Reston, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Family friends described her as a ray of light.

A family friend said she was outgoing and loved animals.

The family friend called Crabbe's death "absolutely devastating. As a mother, I can't imagine what her mother's going through. I'm a friend of her mother's."

The Washington Redskins acknowledge safety Montae Nicholson was somehow involved in the incident.

“We’ve been made aware of the tragic event and extend our deepest sympathies to the family who lost a loved one,” the team said in a statement. “Our team has alerted the league office and is cooperating with local authorities. We fully support law enforcement and respect their process as they investigate the matter."

The family friend said Crabbe knew Nicholson.

"They at least knew each other, obviously. But whatever relationship they had was between those two," the family friend said.

“First off, a young lady lost her life," Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan said. "Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to her family, her friends and loved ones. That’s a sad situation. Relative to Montae and the legal process, we’re letting that play out right now. We’re getting more facts and information. As of right now, Montae practiced. He’s still on the injury report, and we’ll see where we’re at tomorrow as we get a little bit more info.”

Nicholson's agent declined to comment.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has not charged Nicholson with a crime.
