Report: Maryland One of Worst States for Retirement

Maryland is one of the 10 worst states to retire in, according to the Wall St. Cheat Sheet.

The financial news website ranks Maryland as the eighth worst state for retirement. It ties New York and Georgia for that position.

The site said Maryland ranks poorly in economic factors due to a high cost of living that can deplete modest incomes and retirement accounts. The state also has more crime than the national average, while its senior population is smaller than average.

Alaska, Louisiana, and Tennessee ranked as the three worst states to retire in. The best cities to retire in are mostly found in the south with Tampa, Florida considered to be the best for retirees.
