Registered Sex Offender Tries to Enter School in Virginia: Police

A registered sex offender tried to enter a school in Virginia, according to Prince William County Police.

The man walked through the exterior doors into the vestibule of The Goddard School in Woodbridge about 2 p.m. Monday, police said.

When he couldn’t open the locked interior doors, he looked through until school staff contacted him and he walked away, police said.

Officers found 53-year-old Jesse Wade Himes a short time later and determined he is a registered sex offender, police said. He was arrested without incident.

Himes is being held without bond on a charge of “being present on the property of a child day center during school hours as a registered violent sex offender.” He’s scheduled to appear in court Sept. 18.
