Redskins Re-Sign Fred Davis To One-Year Deal

The Washington Redskins announced Friday that they had re-signed free agent tight end Fred Davis.

A person familiar with the deal told the Associated Press that Davis had agreed to a one-year contract to remain with the Washington Redskins.

The person said Friday that Davis opted to remain with the Redskins after exploring options with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

Davis might have been one of the most coveted tight ends on the free agent market if he were healthy, but he's recovering from a torn left Achilles suffered in a loss to the New York Giants in October. Last year, Davis signed a one-year, franchise-player tender contract with just over $5 million.

He had 24 catches for 325 yards in seven games last year. The 2008 second-round pick has 155 receptions for 1,973 yards and 12 touchdowns in five Redskins seasons.
