Red Line Metro Trains to Resume Regular Service

Metro trains on the Red Line in Washington are expected to resume regular service by 3 p.m. after running on a single track for several hours due to unscheduled repairs to a damaged insulator.

Red Line trains have been running on a single track since a train operator called to report smoke outside of the Dupont Circle station at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday and the line between Dupont and Van Ness stations was shut down for about an hour.

Fire officials said the problem was an arcing insulator. Crews were working Saturday morning and afternoon to replace it.
