Reagan National Airport Swapping Out Scanners

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Remember all that hoopla over the full-body scanners? That they were too invasive and showed a little too much of you?

Well now the TSA is rolling out new scanners that will reveal less of you while still keeping everyone safe.

Reagan National Airport helped test the new scanners for six months and is now offically unveiling them.

The new version will still have a traveler enter the compartment, but instead of a detailed profile, it will display a generic looking outline of them.

If there are any questionable items, it will be displayed as a square over the location of the item.

If everything turns up alright, a green box that says “OK” will flash, and the traveler can move on.

The old full-body scanners were a lightning rod for controversy, including a request to remove all of them by the ACLU.

The group argued the scanners were an invasion of privacy and were not needed to determine security threats.
