Proposed Bethesda Metro Entrance Would Connect With Purple Line

Council committee votes to fund new entrance

A Montgomery County Council committee voted to fund a second entrance to the Bethesda Metro Station.

A construction budget proposed by County Executive Isiah Leggett did not include the funding of the project, but committee members voted Monday to change that.

If the council agrees to fund the new entrance, it would connect to the western end of the proposed Purple Line.

The new Bethesda entrance would draw attention and potentially more federal money to the Purple Line construction project, according to Council President Roger Berliner.
