Md. Propane Tank Leak Over; Metro Service Resumes

Service on part of Metro's Red Line has resumed after a leak from a 1,000 gallon propane tank at a Rockville, Maryland, business temporarily suspended service.

The valve on the 1,000 gallon tank at Suburban Propane was sheared off during maintenance, causing the tank to leak Thursday morning. CSX Rail and Metro traffic through the area was stopped. The propane tank was located near the tracks.

Technicians were able to plug the leak with the help of firefighters and Hazmat crews. There were no injuries.

Service on Metro's Red Line was suspended between the Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations. Service has since been restored.
