Don't Freak Out! Production Company to Stage Plane Crash in Bowie

People in the area will be able to see black smoke and sound effects, the fire department says

Don't freak out if a large plume of black smoke is spotted in Bowie, Maryland, this week. It's just for a television show.

A production company will recreate a plane crash near Freeway Airport starting Wednesday, the Prince George's County Fire Department said. The production is expected to last three days.

The fire department said people in the area of John Hanson Highway and in nearby communities may be able to see smoke and pyrotechnics between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on those days.

The production area will be closed to the public for safety reasons.

The fire department said it is anticipating a higher volume of 911 calls in relation to the production. Residents who feel there is an emergency unrelated to the movie production are advised to call 911.
