A West Virginia woman received probation after pleading guilty in connection with the death of her dog last July.

Cathryn Washington left the 14-year-old yellow lab in her sweltering car while she shopped at a Frederick, Md.Costco.

She returned to her car to find the dog dead. Police said she then proceeded to go back into the store and return dog food and dog beds she’d just bought.

Under the terms of her probation, Wright will not be allowed to own a pet for 18 months. She will also have to undergo a psychiatric or psychological evaluation to prove she doesn’t have a condition that could put herself or others at risk.
