Prince William County Police Chief Announces Retirement

Prince William County will soon be on the hunt for a new police chief.

Police Chief Steve Hudson announced Wednesday that he would retire from the department this spring.

Hudson has been with the Prince William County Police Department since 1982. His retirement came as a slight surprise as he became police chief less than four years ago, in 2013.

“Chief Hudson has served the people of Prince William County with great distinction throughout his career,” Corey Stewart, chairman of the Board of County Supervisors, said in a press release. “We are grateful for his dedication and sacrifice over the past 34 years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

Deputy Chief of Police Barry Barnard will temporarily fill Hudson’s shoes until a new police chief is hired.
