State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks hosted a kickoff event Wednesday at a Baltimore Avenue Starbucks for the 10th annual Maryland Crime Victims Fund Run.

The race is scheduled for Oct. 19 at the Paint Branch Park Trail. Wednesday's event was geared toward signing up runners and walkers to participate. Those who signed were eligible for special giveaways.

The run will benefit the county's fund for victims of crimes who have no other way to pay for things such as crime scene cleanup, insurance deductibles and stolen property.
