Prince George's Officer Saved by Bulletproof Vest

A Prince George's County police officer was saved by his bulletproof vest when he was shot while exchanging gunfire with a robbery suspect Saturday night.

Police say they responded to a robbery at a check cashing center at 6030 Marlboro Pike in District Heights at about 9 p.m.. Officers followed the suspect's car to an apartment complex on Parkland Court; at that point, there was a shootout.

The officer was hit but not seriously injured, thanks to his vest.

One suspect was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Detectives questioned a second man involved and they are looking for a third.
