Prince George's County Voting on Slot Machines

Prince George's County expected to fold on gambling vote

All bets could soon be off on slot machines ever coming to Prince George’s County.

The council will vote today on a zoning bill that would ban the machines throughout the county. Council member Eric Olson sponsored the zoning measure.

Right now, Maryland law only allows slot machines in five locations. Prince George's County is NOT one of those locations. But some lawmakers in Annapolis want to expand the law and bring slots to Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington.

Those against slots in the county argue gambling would cause a rise in crime and traffic. Supporters say they could bring in economic development.
