Prince George's County Police Search for Second Suspect in Seat Pleasant Murder

Prince George’s County police are searching for a second suspect involved in the murder of 31-year-old Sharod Darnell James in Seat Pleasant.

At about 11:50 p.m. Nov. 16, a shooting was reported in the 5600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway. When police arrived, they found James, of southeast Washington, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Lawson Mahdi, 24, of the 13000 block of Bishops Bequest Road in Upper Marlboro, was arrested in connection with this murder Nov. 21.

The second suspect in this murder was identified as 23-year-old Joshua Jermaine Benton, of the D.C. area. He has a prominent tattoo on his right forearm.  Benton also has a twin brother who is not connected to this case.
