Police Release Footage of Theft and Altercation at Convenience Store

Police have released surveillance footage of a theft and altercation at a Prince George's County convenience store, and are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect.

The robbery took place back on April 11 at the Best 1 convenience store in the 4200 block of Southern Avenue in Capitol Heights.

Police released video Wednesday that shows a man taking a wallet from the victim's back pocket shortly before 11:10 a.m. The footage shows a man approaching the victim from behind, and pulling his wallet from his pocket. The victim attempted to intervene, and the two tussled as they moved through the store's entrance.

The victim was pushed to the ground just outside of the store and sustained minor injuries.

Police say the thief took the wallet and fled toward the direction of D.C.

Other people are seen outside the store in the footage, but a police spokesperson declined to comment.

Anyone with information on the man shown in the store is asked to contact Prince George's County Police at 301-772-4905 or contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
