Police in Prince George’s County are massively stepping up their effort to improve the quality of life for the residents of their community.

Assistant Police Chief Kevin Davis is scheduled to discuss the “Take 30 for Traffic” plan, a traffic and pedestrian safety enforcement strategy covering 10 locations in the county.

Officers also participated in “Running the Beat” at Langley Park on Monday, the first of six focus area runs. “Running the Beat” is supposed to engage the community and show police as a visible presence in these neighborhoods.

Other locations include East Riverdale/Bladensburg, Suitland/Coral Hills, Kentland/Palmer Park, Hillcrest Heights/Marlow Heights and Glassmanor.

All of these events are part of the counties’ Transforming Neighborhood Initiative, an effort to transform the toughest and most crime-ridden neighborhoods in Prince George’s County.

The announcement by Assistant Police Chief Kevin Davis will be made at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Quizno's, at 8310 Annapolis Road, in New Carrollton.
