The 21-year-old victim’s mother said her daughter was watching the commotion from her apartment balcony near 3000 1st St. SE at about 6 p.m. Thursday. She said her daughter suddenly grabbed her leg and told her mother she had been hit.

The woman shot is eight months pregnant . A little girl was also in the apartment at the time of the shooting. She was not hurt.

"These young boys with these guns, I don’t know what they’re doing with these guns, but we need to get these guns off the street," said the victim’s mother, who wanted remain anonymous.
