Fairfax Police seek sexual assault suspect

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Fairfax County Police are searching for a man who broke into an apartment early Saturday in the Lorton area, sexually assaulted a woman whose children were nearby and fled the apartment.

It happened around 6 a.m. Saturday in the 7800 block of Lewis Chapel Circle, police said. The 30-year-old victim woke up to find a masked man in her bedroom.

A neighbor called 911, and police arrived quickly with bloodhounds to search the area, but the attacker was not found. Police have returned to the apartment complex every day since, distributing fliers warning about the attack, News4's Julie Carey reported.

The attacker forced entry to get inside the home, police said.

Two units away from the attack, a neighbor called 911 Sunday night after she heard noises and discovered her screens had been damaged, Carey reported. One had been pushed in and another had been cut.

Another first-floor resident of the complex called police because of damage to her window. She said she scared away a suspicious man one night and is keeping two baseball bats and a gun at the ready, Carey reported.
