Pr. George's Co. Officials Give Homicide Update

Prince George's County officials will discuss the progress of their response to a string of 13 homicides in the first 11 days of the year.

County Executive Rushern Baker will be joined by acting Police Chief Mark Magaw, Sheriff Melvin High and State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks at a news conference Tuesday morning at police headquarters in Palmer Park.

Magaw has said a spike is not unusual, but they have to take action to stop it.

Scores of extra county, state and municipal officers have been patrolling the areas where most of the homicides took place to track down information.

The department is also getting help with the investigations from agents with the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
