Bones found during construction work at a D.C. elementary school Friday are not human, D.C. police said Friday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, police said they were investigating possible human remains.
The bones appear to be antiquities, D.C. police had said. They were found around 10 a.m. by construction workers digging while performing work at Hyde-Addison Elementary School.
Police were called to the scene at 3219 O St. NW. Detectives removed the bones and later determined they belonged to an animal.
