Portion of Route 50 Closed This Weekend

Crews demolishing bridge

You might want to avoid Route 50 if you are traveling in Northern Virginia this weekend, as a section of the highway will be closed for bridge demolition.

Westbound Route 50 in Arlington will be closed between Courthouse Road and 10th Street. Crews will be taking down the bridge that connects 10th Street to eastbound Route 50.

Closures started at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. The road should be back open by 8:00 p.m. Sunday night. VDOT suggests using Washington Boulevard to get around the closure.

The ramp from westbound Route 50 to North Fairfax Drive is also closed, as is the stretch of Fairfax Drive between Scott Street and Courthouse Road that runs parallel to Route 50.
