    The D.C. police union criticized the police department's comments about Det. Mike Baylor.

    The head of the D.C. police union is decrying the police chief's public criticism of a detective for pulling a gun during a snowball fight.

    Videos of the plainclothes officer holding a gun and telling people he pulled the weapon after getting hit by snowballs circulated widely on the Internet after the Saturday confrontation.

    On Monday, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier called the officer's actions "totally inappropriate." Baylor is currently assigned to desk duty.

    D.C. Police responded Monday to one of their off duty detectives pulling out a gun at a snowball fight during the weekend snow. Chief Cathy Lanier called his actions "totally inappropriate!" Internal affairs is now investigating the case.

    Union chief Kristopher Baumann said today it's questionable whether Det. Michael Baylor will get a fair and unbiased investigation by the department. Baumann said Lanier should wait for the investigation to close before passing judgment.

    The mass snowball fight was advertised on Twitter and other social media during a record snowfall.
