Baltimore County police said a man with a knife tried to also run over officers and remained combative as he was taken to the hospital.

Police arrived in the 3700 block of Old Milford Mill in Pikesville, Md., early Sunday morning and discovered a man who allegedly attacked a woman. The suspect was armed with a knife, but would not comply with officers’ commands to drop the weapon.

Police used tasers, pepper spray and batons to subdue the large suspect, but he was able to elude police and jump inside a vehicle. The suspect then tried to run over the officers while fleeing.

Two officers fired on the suspect, hitting him once. The suspect was transported to an area hospital, but remained combative and required three officers to escort him.

Several officers received minor injuries, but did not require medical treatment. The female victim was also unharmed.

The investigation is continuing and the identity of the suspect is not being released at this time.
