Teens Targeted Boy, Beat Him to Death

Fourteen-year-old attacked while riding his bike

Christopher David Jones was biking on Nantucket Drive when he was attacked and beaten to death.

Police are still looking for a group of teenagers who beat a 14-year-old boy to death in Anne Arundel County, Md., Saturday.

Christopher David Jones, who lived on the 2400 block of Old Mystic Court in Crofton, was riding his bike on Nantucket Drive when he was attacked just after 4 p.m.  Police were called to the scene at 4:17 p.m. Saturday and, at first, said they thought the boy had been hit by a car.

They found out from witnesses that Jones had been beaten by five to seven male suspects.

Police searched the area by land and by helicopter based on witnesses' descriptions, but were not able to find the group of teens.

Jones was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, but wasn't breathing during the drive, Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Debbie Bowen told Hometown Annapolis.  He died before 7 p.m., according to police.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, but detectives say they believe the suspects knew the victim and had targeted him.

An autopsy on Jones will be done today.

Anyone with information on the assault is being asked to contact Detective Kelly Harding at 410-222-3213.
