Police Search for Weaponless, Carless Bank Robber

Suspect last seen fleeing bank on foot

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Friday afternoon in Germantown.

Montgomery County Police 5th District officers responded to the Provident Bank located inside the Shoppers Food Warehouse at 18066 Mateny Road in Germantown at 3:49 p.m., for the report of a bank robbery that had just occurred. 

A preliminary investigation revealed that one suspect had entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect announced a robbery and demanded money.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. There was no weapon seen or implied.  No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20’s, and approximately 6’0” to 6’3” tall. The suspect was wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hood, dark pants, gloves, and a white mask. The suspect was last seen running from the bank on foot.
