Police Respond to Falls Church Barricade

SWAT team called to scene

A barricade situation in Falls Church is over after more than a day, News4's Shomari Stone reported.

Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 600 block of Hillwood Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Monday. A distraught man had gasoline on him, Stone reported.

Two family members were removed from the home Monday, but the man wouldn't leave the home.

Police Tasered the man with non-lethal force Tuesday evening, and the man was taken to a hospital. Felony charges are pending, Stone reported.

Police had tried throwing a chemical substance inside the home to force the man out, but that didn't work. Police were able to get in contact with the man around 1 a.m. and said they had been in touch with him constantly since that point.

There were reports that shots were fired inside the home.

A Fairfax SWAT team was requested.

Police turned off the gas and knocked out windows to the home, according to the Associated Press.

The 600 block of Hillwood Avenue was closed for the duration of the standoff.
