Montgomery County police have released the sketch of a man they say sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman at knife point earlier this week.

The woman reported she was running along the Northwest Branch Trail just after 4 p.m. Monday near Oakview Drive when a stranger pulled her off the trail and sexually assaulted her. She told police he was armed with a knife.

Neighbors saw the woman appear out of the trail shortly after the assault, distraught and covered in mud.

The incident happened less than five miles from another sex assault at knife point, which happened Sunday morning in Hyattsville. That suspect doesn't match the description of the suspect in Silver Spring.

Police have said residents using the Northwest Branch Trail shouldn't be concerned -- they say the trails are routinely patrolled.
