Police Release Sketch in Northeast Fatal Shooting

The shooting occurred at a gas station on Benning Road, SE.

The Metropolitan Police Department has released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in a fatal shooting last Saturday at a gas station in the 4500 block of Benning Road, NE.

Following a report of a shooting during the early morning hours last Saturday, police say they found an adult male who had been shot.  The victim was taken to the hospital and died.  This man has been identified as Stephon Emmanuel Way, 24, from Upper Marlboro, Md.  

Police say a 16-year-old female from Southeast was also wounded but is expected to survive.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with a medium build, around 160 pounds, and 5’10’’ to 6’1’’ tall.  He is described as having brown eyes, shoulder length dread locks, a light mustache and beard, and a light to medium complexion.  He was last reported as wearing blue pants, a red shirt, and a red/black coat/jacket.

The suspect was armed with a dark colored hand gun and was driving a silver Ford Focus, according to police.
