Police Release Composite Sketch in Silver Spring Attempted Rape

Montgomery County Police detectives released a composite sketch of a man believed to have tried to rape a college student Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old woman encountered a stranger in the foyer of her apartment building just off New Hampshire Avenue near the University of Maryland after 11 p.m. He spoke to her in Spanish and slurred his words.

She said he offered her money, which she guessed was for sex, and she declined, which is when he threw her to the floor and took off her pants.

She started kicking and screaming, and the man fled.

He's described as a very light-skinned Hispanic man with a round, clean-shaven face and very thin lips. He's about 5-feet-8-inches tall and 155 pounds and is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a black, puffy jacket with pockets on both sides and on the sleeves; dark jeans or sweatpants, and black sneakers.

Police said they believe the same man also was involved in an indecent exposure incident in which he approached a 36-year-old woman and tried to solicit her for sex before exposing himself.
