Police Recover $20,000 Worth of Beauty Products

Women accused of selling stolen products out of their car

Perfume, makeup and other high-end beauty products sold at a discount were part of a massive theft ring.

Latasha Mungo and Darquesha Wilkinson are accused of deftly stealing high-end products from top retailers.

“They’re not the typical thieves where you’d think they’d go in and look rough and they’re rude,” Prince George’s County police Sgt. Aubrey Thompson said. “They’re very charming ladies. They’re well-dressed. They go into the store, they’re polite, they select items, put it in their bag and walk out. That’s their job. That’s what they do.”

The women allegedly stole from Woodmore Commons in Prince George’s County, Md., and malls in Springfield, Fairfax and Tysons Corner in Virginia. They sold the stolen items out of the back of their car, police said.

Investigators did not know the extent of the women’s sticky fingers until the pair was arrested, police said. Police confiscated an estimated $20,000 worth of products.

“They would steal all week, make enough, go to Miami on the weekend, stay the whole weekend, run out of money and come back and resume business,” Thompson said.
