Police: Officer Shoots Man at Maryland Motel

An officer shot a man who pointed a gun at him outside a motel, police in Harford County said.

Officers were called to the Economy Inn on South Philadelphia Road late Monday after getting reports of someone firing shots near the motel, Aberdeen police said.

Officers confronted a man in the parking lot and he pointed a handgun at them, police said. One officer shot the man in the upper body.

The man was taken to a local hospital and then transported to Shock Trauma.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

Police placed the officer on routine administrative duties during an investigation of the shooting.
