Police Officer Helps Turtle Cross The Road

A Prince George police officer doesn't know why a turtle tried to cross the road -- but he was there to  help it reach the other side safely.

Officer Michael Anis was on the scene when a turtle attempted to cross the busy Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, Md. on Friday afternoon.

Anis noticed that several cars were stopping on the road, so he went to find out what exactly was impending traffic.

When the officer saw the unexpected culprit, he quickly moved it to safety -- and then released the turtle into a nearby wooded area. The turtle, police say, was not charged with jaywalking.
