The stabbings of two college students in western Maryland last weekend is prompting two schools -- Frostburg State University and Allegany College of Maryland -- to look into possible tension between students at the colleges.
The institutions said Tuesday they're planning at least two meetings with faculty and students to discuss whether conflicts exist and how they can be resolved.
Police are investigating the incident, which happened early Sunday morning at an off-campus, Frostburg apartment complex. Two 19-year-old male students were stabbed, one from each institution.
Frostburg police initially said the stabbings stemmed from an altercation between students from the state university and the community college in nearby Cumberland. But Police Chief Royce Douty says he's unaware of any tensions between student groups.
He says a lot of Allegany College students live in Frostburg.
