Police: Md. Man Who Appeared Drunk Forced Son, 13, to Drive

A man who appeared to be drunk forced his 13-year-old son to drive his car, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office said.

A caller reported seeing a very drunk man leave a Monrovia business in a car with a juvenile about 9:30 p.m. Friday, authorities said. A deputy stopped a car matching the description and found an intoxicated man in the front passenger seat and a 13-year-old driving.

The man forced his son to drive because he could not, deputies said.

Michael Edward McLaughlin, 44, of Monrovia was arrested and charged with neglect of a minor, contribute to condition of a child and reckless endangerment.
