Maryland Man Charged With Soliciting Minors on Snapchat

A man was arrested at the University of Maryland campus in Baltimore County after sexually soliciting minors through Snapchat, according to police.

James Tyler Patterson, 21, of Adamstown, faces charges including child pornography solicitation, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The arrest results from an investigation that began in August, when the department was notified about a man sexually soliciting minors through the popular mobile app, police said.

Sheriff's officials said they were able to identify Patterson as the suspect through search warrants, court order subpoenas and assistance from the FBI.

Patterson was detained without incident on Friday, police said.

The Sheriff’s Office said he confessed during an interview, and was later taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
