Metropolitan Police are urging women to be aware of their surroundings after a woman was sexually assaulted in her Georgetown home.

A man entered a residence in the 1400 block of Wisconsin Avenue near O Street early Sunday morning, police said.

The suspect attacked and sexually assaulted a woman inside.

The attacker is described as a black, approximately 25-28 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 150 pounds.

Police say the suspect either has a close haircut or a shaved head.

Investigators do not believe the attack is connected to any others in the Georgetown area in the past year.

Anyone with information should call Crime Solvers at 800-673-2777.  A caller who provides information that leads to an arrest or indictment is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
