Police Look for Hit-and-Run Boater

Maryland Natural Resources Police are looking for a hit-and-run boater involved in an accident that injured an Alexandria, Va., man.

Natural Resources Police say Mark Gentile, 55, jumped off his anchored sailboat Saturday to retrieve a minnow pot and was overrun by a power boat as he swam to the pot.

Police said Gentill managed to dive under the water as the boat approached, but was struck in the legs.

Natural Resources police said the accident occurred in the Chesapeake Bay near Thomas Point Light between Fishing Creek and
the South River about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The power boat was described as a 21-foot white and champagne Donzi-type vessel with two people aboard, a white male and white female between 30 and 40 years old.
