Police: Reports of Shooting at D.C. School Are False

News4's Pat Collins said call to police appears to have been a hoax; several streets shut down in area

Police were called to an area north of U Street NW for the report of a shooting, but News4's Pat Collins said the emergency call to authorities appears to have been a hoax.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of 13th Street NW at 10 a.m. Thursday, but no victims were found.

Around 10:40 a.m., police announced the report of the shooting was unfounded.

"At this time nothing has been found. MPD is investigating where the telephone call originated," Gwendolyn Crump of the Metropolitan Police Department wrote in an email.

During the investigation, several streets in the area were closed down. They had reopened by 11:40 a.m., police said.
