Takoma Park Man's Death Investigated as Homicide

Three days have passed since the mysterious death of a Takoma Park, Md. man found in his backyard.

Crews responded to two phone calls for a disturbance at a home in the 800 block of Colby Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Cecil Brown, 73, was found dead in his backyard, and police say the cause of his death was blunt force trauma.

Neighbors are disturbed and puzzled by Brown's death.

"The question is, why? We don't understand why. We know things happen. Why would it happen middle of the day? He was probably the quietest person on the street," neighbor Maurice Grant said.

Officers have hinted there is no imminent threat to neighbors.

"As far as this case goes, I don't think they have anything to worry about," Catherine Plevy with Takoma Park Police said.
